Delay in Bayern Munich's group due to wrathful thunderstorm - Inclement weather hits Bavaria-Tross region

A thunderstorm over Orlando has caused a headache for FC Bayern Munich, prolonging their journey to the Club World Cup. Their chartered flight, carrying the German football legends, touched down in Fort Lauderdale over two hours behind schedule on Saturday evening.

As Austrian international player Konrad Laimer put it: "We had a later dinner and then hit the sack." Fellow national player Jonathan Tah maintained his calm, expressing, "It'd be nicer if everything ran smoothly."

Despite the travel woes, Bayern's ambition against Flamengo remains undeterred. Coach Vincent Kompany stated, "Our focus is solely on what we need to do to emerge victorious." The Munich team aims to advance to the quarter-finals, competing against either Paris Saint-Germain or Inter Miami, led by Argentina's World Cup hero, Lionel Messi.

However, the team holds Flamengo in high regard. "We need to be at our best," repeated full-back Laimer.

Based in Fort Lauderdale, on Florida's southeastern coast, the team found their temporary home at the Hard Rock Stadium, located north of Miami, for tonight's match (22:00 CET). Coach Kompany conducted the final training session with his squad at the usual venue in Orlando, just as they did before the group match against Boca Juniors, which was also affected by a thunderstorm, causing late arrivals.

The distance between Orlando International Airport and Fort Lauderdale Airport is approximately 295 kilometers, or 183 miles, with a flight time of around thirty minutes.

Although there's a precedent for severe weather causing delays at the Club World Cup tournament in Orlando (as seen in the 2025 event during the Benfica vs Auckland City game)[2][3], there's no definitive evidence suggesting FC Bayern Munich faced travel disruptions or that their fixture against CR Flamengo has been directly impacted by such weather events.
