Inclement Weather Conditions may Trigger Wildfires in Region 925 Within the Coming Week
As the heatwave continues to grip the 925 area, fire danger remains a concern for residents of Walnut Creek, Concord, San Ramon, Dublin, Livermore, and other surrounding communities.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has not issued any active watches or warnings for the Bay Area office as of late Monday morning, but the situation could change quickly. Fire-weather indices have rebounded after recent showers, and overnight humidity recovery will be poor, with afternoon humidity dropping into the 20-35% range this week in the Diablo Range and East Bay hills.
Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) has its Outage Center link readily available on its website for rapid checks during peak fire weather. The company's PSPS pages also show the latest status and a 7-day outlook for potential Public Safety Power Shutoffs during high-risk wind and fire periods. As of now, there are no issued red flag weather warnings or planned public safety power shutoffs by PG&E in the 925-area code communities.
However, the dry conditions could lead to isolated dry thunderstorms in the East Bay late this week, and a modest chance of dry lightning arrives late in the week. A northward surge of tropical moisture tied to Tropical Storm Mario could bring a window for elevated, mainly dry thunderstorms Thursday into Friday.
Inland highs in central Contra Costa and the Tri-Valley will hover in the mid to upper 90s from Tue-Wed, with a widespread Moderate Heat Risk through Wednesday. It is recommended to complete defensible-space and readiness chores during these calm days.

Remember, hot, very dry fuels and lightning without much rain could trigger wildfires in the 925 area, especially in grassier northern parts like Brentwood. So, let's all stay vigilant and prepared.
