Heavy Rainfall and Strong Winds Forecast Across India

The weather forecast for the coming days indicates heavy to very heavy rainfall and strong winds over several regions of India.

Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra

Heavy rainfall is very likely to continue in Konkan, Goa, and the ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra for the next seven days. Very heavy rainfall is expected over Konkan around August 25-26, and strong surface winds (40-50 kmph) are expected over the Maharashtra coast on August 21-22. Light to moderate rainfall will prevail during this period.

Gujarat

Strong surface winds are forecast along the Gujarat coast for the next five days. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to continue over Gujarat till August 30.

Coastal Karnataka

Isolated heavy rainfall with very heavy rainfall is expected during August 26-30 in Coastal Karnataka. Light to moderate rain is also forecast over coastal Karnataka for the next seven days.

Coastal Andhra Pradesh

Very heavy rainfall is expected on August 26 in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, along with continued rainfall in the coming days.

South Odisha, Telangana, South Interior Karnataka

Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms is predicted for these regions. Telangana and South Interior Karnataka are expected to receive isolated heavy rainfall on August 27-28.

Other Regions

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is anticipated in isolated pockets of East & Central India including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal during August 21-27.

The meteorological context includes cyclonic circulations over South Haryana and northeast Rajasthan, an active monsoon trough, and a low-pressure area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal influencing weather patterns.

Areas with extremely heavy rainfall in the next days are primarily parts of Konkan (August 25-26), Gujarat (till August 30), Coastal Andhra Pradesh (August 26), and Coastal Karnataka (August 26-30), with heavy rain likely in Madhya Maharashtra and surrounding coastal areas as well.

Residents and stakeholders in these areas should expect continued heavy rains, potential flooding, and strong winds in the coming days. Other regions such as Nagaland, Manipur, and Uttarakhand are also expected to experience isolated heavy rainfall during the same period.
