A Disturbing Case Unveiled in Zhambyl Region

In the heart of Zhambyl region, a distressing incident has surfaced, involving two men who have been convicted of raping their minor niece for six long years. The news, initially reported by KTK channel, reveals the harsh reality of the situation.

The trial, carried out behind closed doors, implicated two brothers from Moyinkum district as the perpetrators of the heinous act. The grim details suggest that the girl, now a teenager, fell victim to their abuse at the tender age of 12, resulting in an unexpected pregnancy.

While the 35-year-old uncle was swiftly apprehended, his 37-year-old accomplice managed to evade the authorities for two weeks before being caught. The identity of the child's father remains unknown.

The Zhambyl Regional Court issued statements stating that the guilty verdict was based on the testimony of the victim's representative, the victim herself, and witnesses. Specialist conclusions, material evidence, and expert opinions also played a crucial role in proving the perpetrators' guilt.

One of the defendants confessed to their crimes in court and was sentenced to life imprisonment. The other vehemently denied the charges, but still received a 20-year sentence, according to the old Criminal Code. Both were prohibited from working with minors.

The court also ordered monetary compensation for the victim's mental anguish. 3 million tenge was to be paid by one relative, while the other was instructed to pay 5 million tenge. However, the judicial acts have yet to come into effect.

In October last year, the Children's Ombudsman, Dinaara Zakiyeva, drew attention to this troubling situation in Zhambyl region, where a 13-year-old girl was allegedly abused by her close relatives for over six years.

Subsequently, one of the suspects was arrested, while the other was added to the wanted list. In November, the second suspect was finally apprehended, hiding away in a farmhouse about 60 kilometers from the Shuy district.
