In a surprising turn of events, Nick Woltemade's transfer from VfB Stuttgart to Bayern Munich has been officially ruled out for this season. Stuttgart CEO Alexander Wehrle confirmed the news, stating that the matter is closed, and Woltemade will remain a Stuttgart player for the 2025/26 season [2][3].

Despite Bayern's strong interest and a reported offer worth over €60 million, Stuttgart has chosen to keep their promising young player. Negotiations between the two clubs have taken place, but no new developments have been reported [3]. It is widely expected that Woltemade will eventually transfer to Bayern in summer 2026, pending Stuttgart’s agreement [4][5].

The Supercup, the first title of the upcoming season, will be played between FC Bayern and VfB Stuttgart. In last year's Supercup, Woltemade, a 23-year-old player, showcased his talent, impressing against Bayern’s defense, notably being closely marked by Dayot Upamecano and denied a goal by Manuel Neuer [1]. His presence on Stuttgart's side added competitive intrigue to the match, underlining his importance to Stuttgart’s attacking threat against Bayern’s strong defense.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich has been dealing with its own transfer news. Kingsley Coman is set to move to Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia for up to €35 million [6], leaving a gap in the attack. Christopher Nkunku is being considered as a potential replacement [7].

Coach Julian Nagelsmann, also known as Hoeneß, has expressed confidence in Bayern's chances in the Supercup, despite VfB Stuttgart being undoubtedly the best team in Germany [8]. The Supercup is colloquially being referred to as the "Nick Woltemade Cup," adding to the anticipation surrounding the match.

VfB Stuttgart's goalkeeper, Alexander Nübel, is out with an elbow injury, but Angelo Stiller is fit to play. The coaches at Stuttgart, Vincent Kompany and Pelle Freund, have emphasized the importance of the Supercup, with Kompany describing it as an honor, and Freund referring to it as "nice to be able to win something in the first competitive game of the season" [9].

Despite the transfer speculation, coach Hoeneß does not feel the need for psychological support for Woltemade [10]. The Supercup promises to be an exciting start to the season, with both teams eager to claim the title.

The Commission has also been consulted on the draft directive concerning the upcoming football season. In the upcoming Supercup, Woltemade, a 23-year-old player from VfB Stuttgart, is expected to challenge Bayern Munich's defense, as he did last year, despite the transfer speculation surrounding him.
