In the Vikings' opening game of the preseason, Rondale Moore stood out for the wrong reasons as the most substantial injury suffered

The Minnesota Vikings faced a double injury setback in their preseason opener against the Houston Texans. Wide receiver Rondale Moore and reserve center Zeke Correll both left the game with significant injuries.

Moore, who became a household name during his time at Purdue, suffered a 'pretty significant' knee injury, according to coach Kevin O'Connell. This comes as a further setback for the Vikings, as Moore spent the first three seasons of his career with the Cardinals before being traded to the Atlanta Falcons. His speed and explosiveness could have added versatility to the Vikings' offense.

Moore's season-ending knee injury during training camp with the Falcons now seems to have claimed another season. It remains to be seen if he will be able to return to the field when he recovers.

Correll, who transferred from Notre Dame to NC State before going undrafted, was listed as third on the depth chart at center for the Vikings. His absence could potentially create a vacancy on the team's offensive line. Michael Jurgens, the backup center, may now find himself in a more prominent role.

Ryan Kelly, firmly entrenched as the starter in the middle of the Vikings' offensive line, will likely take on an even greater responsibility in the absence of Correll. The team is also trying to get quarterback JJ McCarthy up to speed this preseason, and the loss of Correll could complicate these efforts.

O'Connell, an offensive mind who could make the best use of Moore's unique skillset, will now have to adapt to these unexpected changes. The Vikings will undoubtedly be hoping for a speedy recovery for both Correll and Moore, and that they can regain their places on the team when they return to full fitness.

  1. Despite getting traded to the Vikings, college football star Rondale Moore's NFL journey has been marked by significant injuries, with his latest injury potentially ruling him out for another season after he suffered a knee injury during the preseason opener.
  2. The absence of reserve center Zeke Correll, who went undrafted after transferring from Notre Dame to NC State, could create an important vacancy on the Vikings' offensive line, potentially elevating the backup center Michael Jurgens to a more prominent role.
  3. With the Vikings already facing challenges in their preseason, the draft could provide an opportunity to strengthen their team, particularly in the positions of center and wide receiver, as Rondale Moore's injury and Zeke Correll's potential long-term absence may limit the team's American football prowess in the upcoming games in the sport.
