All-Star "Scam Team" Raises Eyebrows in IPL 2025

The internet was buzzing on Monday, as Iceland Cricket's official social media handle dropped a surprising post about the ongoing IPL 2025. They jokingly assembled an all-star team they labeled as the "IPL 2025 Frauds and Scammers Team."

This peculiar squad, consisting of 12 players, included five from the Chennai Super Kings, two from Sunrisers Hyderabad, one each from Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Lucknow Super Giants. The team also featured two of the three most expensive acquisitions in IPL history - Venkatesh Iyer (INR 23.75 crore) and Rishabh Pant (INR 27 crore). Pant was selected as the captain and wicketkeeper, while the latter took on the role of the team's 12th man in the hypothetical lineup.

The batting order included Rahul Tripathi and Rachin Ravindra as openers, with Ishan Kishan and Pant forming the top-order. The middle order featured Iyer, overseas stars Glenn Maxwell, and Liam Livingstone, with Deepak Hooda handling finishing duties.

The bowling lineup boasted one specialist spinner, R Ashwin, along with two fast bowlers - Matheesha Pathirana and Mohammed Shami.

The post went on to make light of the team's questionable pitch with the caption "On a rainy day in Reykjavik, we present the IPL 2025 Frauds and Scammers Team."

Mixed Performances for Pant and Iyer

This season has been tough on both Pant's wallet and his game, as the pressure of his high price tag has weighed heavily. He's managed a disappointing 142 runs in 11 innings, with only one fifty-plus score, at a strike rate of 139.22.

Meanwhile, Venkatesh Iyer, who joined the team for INR 23.75 crore, hasn't quite lived up to expectations either. Despite the absence of specific details about his performance, his inclusion in the "frauds and scammers team" suggests that he's struggling to justify his steep price tag.

Funnily enough, both Pant and Iyer's teams are having a hard time making it to the playoffs, with five wins in 11 games. KKR just edges ahead, sitting in sixth, thanks to a drawn game against Punjab Kings last month.
