In the UK, Trump was treated to a grand banquet, but the event was marred by an ill-timed and awkward guest.

In the grand St George's Hall of Windsor Castle, just outside London, King Charles III laid on an extraordinary show for a dinner in honour of President Trump during his second state visit to the United Kingdom. The meal was part of Britain's effort to woo the American President.

The banquet table, stretching over 2.7 Marine Ones in length, was adorned with 139 candles, 1,452 pieces of cutlery, and just over 100 staff. The seating plans were arranged by the royal family, with guests including Prince William and Princess Catherine, Trump's daughter Tiffany and her husband, as well as several US tech CEOs, such as Jensen Huang of Nvidia and Sam Altman of Open AI.

The media magnate Rupert Murdoch was also a guest at the British banquet, despite a lawsuit filed by President Trump against him and the Wall Street Journal. Murdoch was seated far along the table from Trump. The lawsuit stems from an article published by the Wall Street Journal about President Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, in which it was reported that Trump wrote a suggestive birthday letter to Epstein in 2003. Trump denies writing or signing the letter in question.

The meal began with a Hampshire watercress panna cotta for the first course, followed by an organic Norfolk chicken ballotine wrapped in courgettes. Dessert was a vanilla ice cream bombe with Kentish raspberry sorbet interior and lightly poached Victoria plums. The drinks served at the dinner were chosen to reflect President Trump's heritage, including a 1945 Warre's port and a 1912 Hennessy cognac.

In his opening speech, President Trump joked about King Charles's ability to remember the names of all the dinner guests he had shaken hands with. The dinner was a reflection of the close relationship between the two leaders, despite the ongoing scandal involving Epstein casting a shadow over the visit.

Just days before the visit, UK ambassador to Washington Peter Mandelson was sacked over his own ties to Epstein. The scandal has raised questions about the nature of the relationship between the British royal family and the disgraced financier.

Despite the controversy, the dinner was an impressive display of British hospitality and a testament to the close relationship between the two nations. The event was undoubtedly one to remember, with its grandeur and star-studded guest list making headlines across the world.
