In the spirit of times past, a beach volleyball court is being provided for community use.
New Beach Volleyball Court Coming to Burow, Mecklenburg Lake District
A new beach volleyball court is set to be built in Burow, following the disappearance of the previous one. The news has been met with enthusiasm from some residents who have expressed a desire for a sand volleyball court.
The new court is planned to be located at the sports field in Burow. However, the current court lacks sand, posing a risk of injury, and is overgrown with weeds. To address this issue, a ball containment fence is planned for the new court. This fence is intended to prevent balls from flying off the sports field, minimizing the risk of accidents, as no one would have to chase after the ball onto the street.
The municipality's own funds are also planned to be included in the budget for the beach volleyball court, along with grant funds to the tune of 12,400 euros that have already been applied for. The estimated cost for the beach volleyball court and ball containment fence is around 15,500 euros.
The project was presented to the Aktionsgruppe Demminer Land by the local representative, Robert Bluethgen, who grew up in Burow and remembers the beach volleyball court from his youth. The former beach volleyball court was located at a youth center, but this facility has since been converted into a 'supported living' facility.
Despite the lack of information about the name of the organization coordinating the new construction project, the project seems to be moving forward. Some citizens have even expressed a desire for additional sports facilities in the area, hoping that the success of the beach volleyball court might lead to more developments in the future.
