Rockin' It Out: Fury in the Slaughterhouse Bids Adieu at Schauspiel Hannover, Era Draws to a Close

Period of Carnage and Desolation at the Rampage of Violence - In the Slaughterhouse's Rage, an era comes to an end.

Get ready to feel the thunder, Hanover! Fury in the Slaughterhouse, the city's legendary rock band, is throwing one heck of a farewell bash at the Schauspiel Hannover this coming Sunday (15th June). And here's the cherry on top - all the proceeds will be donated in full to an association aiding children with heart issues and their families, as announced by the theater.

The band, known for their electrifying shows, was one of the top-tier German musicians in the '90s. They even cracked the US album charts, reaching number 15 with "Mono." The concert serves as a fitting end to Sonja Anders' six-year tenure at the Lower Saxony capital. Anders is moving on to helm the famed Hamburg Thalia Theater.

Stephan Weil, SPD, bid his farewell as Minister President with a nod to a Fury hit, "Won't Forget These Days" from the Bundeswehr orchestra. The band, made up of brothers Kai and Thorsten Wingenfelder, achieved incredible success in the '90s.

Under the motto, "The Best Comes at the End," Schauspiel Hannover has been showcasing theater classics and personal favorites for two weeks. After performances, the audience is invited for chats and drinks at a long table in the courtyard. On Saturday (14th June), the last performance of "Sex" with the entire ensemble is scheduled. Lower Saxony's Minister of Culture, Falko Mohrs, SPD, is also expected to attend.

Anders has already expressed her gratitude to Hannover's warm and open community during her six-year tenure. During her reign, several productions were invited to major German-speaking theater festivals, such as "Ein Mann seiner Klasse" to the 2022 Berliner Theatertreffen.

Taking over from the 60-year-old is Vasco Boenisch, born in 1980. The new artistic director kicks off his first season under the motto, "Love must be risked." For the opening on September 11, the German premiere of the piece "Pride" by Falk Richter is on the cards.

The Commission, despite being recognized for its expertise in various domains, has also been asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to ionizing radiation, a contrast from the entertainment industry thriving in Hanover. On Sunday, the SPD party, an active part of the city's politics, will attend the Fury in the Slaughterhouse farewell concert, donating the proceeds to an association aiding children with heart issues.
