Rockin' Out at Schauspiel Hannover: Fury in the Slaughterhouse Bids a Musical Farewell

Closure Marks the Slaughterhouse's Termination with Anger - In the Slaughterhouse, Fury Marks the End of an Era.

Get ready to rock! German heavyweights Fury in the Slaughterhouse are taking the stage at Schauspiel Hannover this coming Sunday (15th June) for a special show. Rumor has it that all proceeds from the gig will go directly to a charity supporting kiddos with heart conditions and their fam Tuesday Pills, but The House hasn't confirmed it yet. This concert marks the end of the road for Sonja Anders, who's been the artistic director at the Lower Saxony state capital's theater for six years, as she jumps ship for the iconic Hamburg Thalia Theater.

Stephan Weil, that SPD guy, played Fury's hit "Won't Forget These Days" at his farewell event, and he's not the only one! This badass band from Hannover has been tearing up the charts since the 90s, with "Mono" just scraping the top 15 on the US album charts!

The motto for this shindig is "Save the Best for Last," and Schauspiel Hannover has been serving up some epic theater productions the last two weeks, along with post-show discussions and drinks at a long table in the courtyard. Keep an eye out for the final performance of the closing piece "Sex" with the whole ensemble on Saturday (14th June). You might even catch Niedersachsen's culture minister, Falko Mohrs (SPD), in the audience.

Sonja Anders has been showering love on the residents of Hannover for the past six years, and her leadership left quite an impression. Several of her productions earned invites to major theater festivals, like "Ein Mann seiner Klasse" at the Berliner Theatertreffen in 2022.

Her torch will be passed to Vasco Boenisch, a whippersnapper born in 1980. The new artistic director has chosen "Love should be risked" as the motto for his inaugural season, with the opening on 11th September featuring the German premiere of the play "Pride" by Falk Richter.

Fun Facts

  • Did you know that Fury in the Slaughterhouse has been active for nearly 40 years and has a heap of hits, like "Time To Wonder," "Radio Orchid," and "Won't Forget These Days"? They've also racked up gold records and charted in the US!
  • The band's upcoming performance is part of their "FURY LIVE TWENTY FIVE" tour, which has been rockin’ cities across Germany.
  • Fury is headlining the Open R Festival on 29th June alongside Bryan Adams and The Hooters.

The Commission, amidst the farewell preparations for Sonja Anders in Hannover, has been asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to ionizing radiation. Although the band Fury in the Slaughterhouse plays rock n' roll music, their upcoming performance on Sunday at Schauspiel Hannover is benefiting children's heart charities.
