Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan recently chaired a District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting in Raisen, Madhya Pradesh, where he addressed a range of issues affecting the district.

In a concerted push against the menace of fake fertilizers, the Minister emphasized the importance of ensuring timely access to quality fertilizers at affordable prices. He outlined strict measures to combat the issue, including regular surveillance of the fertilizer supply chain, regular sampling and testing, immediate halt to forced tagging of nano-fertilizers or bio-stimulants with conventional fertilizers, strong legal measures, and involving farmers in monitoring and feedback. The Minister also stressed the need for awareness campaigns to educate farmers on distinguishing genuine products from fakes.

Strict action will be taken against the distribution of fake fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides. The Minister directed officials to take the strictest possible action against those involved in the sale of counterfeit fertilizers.

In addition to addressing agricultural concerns, the Minister also focused on other developmental issues. He emphasized the timely commissioning of ongoing electricity substation projects to ensure uninterrupted services for all rural households. Every village in Raisen is to be connected to main roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

The Minister also highlighted the importance of releasing all installments to beneficiaries on time under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin)-Awas Plus. Of the 27,981 houses sanctioned in the district for FY 2024-25, 4,825 have been completed while 23,156 are currently under construction.

Raisen district has produced 43,613 "Lakhpati Didis", women who have achieved an annual income of over Rs 1 lakh. The Minister urged local representatives and officers to work with commitment to transform Raisen into a model district.

The DISHA meeting also focused on issues such as deaddiction, black marketing, sale of counterfeit fertilizers, housing, road connectivity, women's empowerment, water infrastructure, and energy development. The Minister reviewed the implementation of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission and the ongoing procurement of moong (green gram).

The Minister's visit to Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh on July 26, 2025, marked his continued efforts to oversee and accelerate development projects across the region. His actions reflect a commitment to ensuring no eligible beneficiary under any government scheme is left out and to the timely completion of development projects.

The Minister reiterates the necessity for severe action against the distribution of counterfeit fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides, emphasizing that the sternest measures should be taken against those involved in their sale.

In the broader context of district development, the Minister also underscores the importance of politics and general news issues such as the timely completion of electricity substation projects, ensuring road connectivity under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, and the timely disbursal of installments under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin)-Awas Plus.
