In the ongoing NCERT controversy, actor R. Madhavan questions the disparity, stating, "Why is there focus on eight chapters about the Mughals, yet only a single one on the Cholas? Where does that segment of our history lie?"

Switching things up 💡Actor R Madhavan has taken a stand in the ongoing debate about historical representation in school curricula, particularly the NCERT's decision to exclude sections on Mughals and Delhi Sultans from Class 7 books. Madhavan questioned why earlier history curriculums didn't cover Jainism, Hinduism, and Buddhism more extensively.

When interviewed by News18, Madhavan shared his thoughts on the debate:

Quote: "The Mughal empire got eight chapters while we had just one on the southen kingdoms like the Cholas, Pandyas, and Pallavas. These dynasties predated the Mughals by thousands of years! The Cholas, famous for their pioneering sea travel, naval power, and temples extending to Angkor Wat—where's that part of our history? And we had only one chapter for it!"

He went on to express frustration over thelimited coverage of Indian history, stating:

Quote: "Whose narrative is this? Who decided the syllabus? Tamil is the oldest living language, and people worldwide can trace their ancestry back to India. Yet, it's not taught! The scientific knowledge hidden in our culture is being mocked right now."

What's the latest with the NCERT? 📚As per recent reports, the NCERT has eliminated all references to the Mughals and Delhi Sultans from revised textbooks, particularly in Class 7 materials. Previously trimmed sections like those detailing Akbar's policies and administrative contributions have been entirely removed. Critics claim this distorts India's rich history by erasing Islam's architectural and cultural impacts.

Madhavan's big project 🎬Madhavan's latest feature, Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh, was released recently and met with a positive response. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film stars Akshay Kumar as Advocate C. Sankaran Nair, with Madhavan playing Advocate Neville McKinley. Also starring Ananya Panday and Regina Cassandra, the film focuses on uncovering the truth behind the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre.
