In the picturesque town of Büttgen, the annual Shooting Festival took place, bringing together the community in a celebration of tradition, friendship, and sport.

The contest, spanning a total of 228 shots, saw the participation of two teams: Helmut Jeschke and Volker Kluth from the Grenadier Company "Rheintreue". The event was marked by the implementation of safety regulations, ensuring a secure environment for all participants.

The Shooting Companies of the Junior King and the Shooting King have been friendly for a long time, and this year's contest was particularly special due to their long-standing friendship. In the Junior category, there were three participants, with Leonhard Eicker (23 years) from the Shooting Company "Dat send se" being crowned the Junior Shooting King. However, Leonhard did not participate in the overall contest.

The winner of the overall contest was not specified, but the new School Prince at the Shooting Festival was Ben Prüfer (15 years) from the Shooting Company "Wie et kütt".

The festival also marked the presentation of the Golden Star for the St. Sebastianus Honorary Cross. This year, the recipient was Honorary Brother Master Ludger Heintz. Additionally, the new Order of Merit King at the Shooting Festival was Johannes Kragl (12 years), and all Order of Merit members received the King's Order from S.M. Lars I. (Witte) at the festival.

The presence of notable figures added to the festival's atmosphere. Ex-football national coach Hans-Hubert "Berti" Vogts, who was the Order of Merit King in Büttgen in 1956, was present at the distribution to the children on Shooting Festival Sunday. The current Schützenkönig at the Schützenfestspiele in Büttgen is Michael Winterhoff, with the Jungschützenkönig being Max Frommen. Michael Winterhoff was announced as the new Schützenkönig in early August 2025.

The Shooting Festival concluded with S.M. Lars I. (Witte) distributing awards, marking another successful year of camaraderie, competition, and tradition in Büttgen.
