Andrew Cuomo Contemplates Comeback: Could He Yet Run for NYC Mayor in November?
In the Democratic primary, ex-New York governor Cuomo admits defeat, yet remains non-committal about a potential November campaign.
Fox Business' Maria Bartiromo dropped a bombshell on her Wednesday show, revealing a tantalizing conversation with eccentric mayoral candidate, Andrew Cuomo. The embattled former New York Governor may not have thrown in the towel just yet.
"In a surprise turn of events," Maria Bartiromo, the vivacious host of "Mornings with Maria," announced during her show's opening, "Andrew Cuomo has not closed the door on his mayoral aspirations just yet!"
The democratic primary was yet undecided early Wednesday morning, but Cuomo appeared to foresee the inevitable. Addressing ill-wishers at his election night gathering, he graciously acknowledged Zohran Mamdani as the winner.
"Mamdani—the outspoken candidate with a penchant for radical ideas such as arresting former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, should he set foot on U.S. soil, and advocating for defunding the police—now becomes the Democratic candidate for the mayor's seat in November's election," Maria Bartiromo extrapolated.
WHO'S THE NEW DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE? BETTING FORTUNES Ride on Mamdani's Mayoral Bid
Mamdani, a 33-year-old state assemblyman from Queens, originally hailing from Uganda, claimed the top spot in the crowded primary field in an election decided through ranked-choice voting. With Manhattan as his stronghold, Mamdani is poised to storm the heavily blue city come November, taking the formidable mantle as frontrunner.
"Tonight belongs to Mamdani," Cuomo conceded with humility, "whose passionate and impactful campaign enthused young voters, grabbed attention, and inspired a massive turnout."

Mamdani now advances to the November general election, where he'll engage with a diverse group of contenders:
- Eric Adams, the incumbent mayor seeking reelection as an independent. Battling legal challenges and facing plummeting approval ratings, Adams bypassed the Democratic primary[1][2][4].
- Curtis Sliwa, the resilient Republican nominee for a second straight election cycle[1][2][4].
- Jim Walden, an independent challenger who's also in the running[1][2][4].
Given the city's recent electoral trends, Mamdani remains the hot favorite for the mayoral seat[4]. However, he'll have to weather the storm against Adams, Sliwa, and Walden before taking the reins.
