The poker world is heating up with Canadians making their mark at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2025. Thomas Taylor, a top contender and Alberta's #1 earner, once again found himself in the thick of the action.

Taylor's Heartbreak: Another Second PlaceIt was a near miss for Taylor in Event #39: $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. Despite bagging the fifth-largest stack for the final day, he fell just short against Russian Andrey Zhigalov. Taylor claimed a respectable $131,916 for second, but the prize money doesn't seem to satisfy him. With this finish, Taylor edges closer to a lifetime earnings total of $2.4 million.

Canadian Cash Kings: From Taylor to LivingstonOther Canadians also had a successful day, including Aleksandr Kosterev, who notched a small cash in the $10k PLO8 Championship. Paul Sokoloff, a UK native residing in Canada, also grabbed a modest payday from the Seniors High Roller. Benjamin Underwood recorded another cash in the $10k Limit Hold'em Championship, while Georg Jancev led 8 Canadian cashes in the $1k PLO. Alex Livingston continued his hot streak, taking 15th in the HORSE event and following it up with a small cash in the $1k PLO.

Chip Leaders: Canadian StyleBenny Chen heads a group of seven Canadian chip leaders in the $1k PLO. Mike Leah, Kyle Rosnos, and Don McCall join him. Jonathan Krela bagged a top-20 stack in Day 1 of the $1.5k Razz, leading five Canadian bags in that tournament. Jeffrey Mahoney was the biggest bag from 24 Canadians moving on from Day 1c of the Monster Stack.
