"In Tennis Singles Competition, Master Dahoam secures the title for the 40th time in the Jubilee Championships district"
In the heart of Bavaria, the Regensburg district tennis championships for the 2025/2026 season concluded with great success. Franz Sturm, the chief referee since 2009, oversaw the events with precision.
The district championships were jointly organized by local clubs and supported financially and logistically by the district. Councilor Tanja Schweiger led the awards ceremony, recognising the achievements of the participants.
In the youth category (Junior U15) for men, Raphael Grübler, Jonas Leberkern, and Till Schneider emerged as champions. The women's counterpart saw Stefanie Kusiek, Leana Abel, and Sabrina Zimmermann claim the title.
The 'king's class' (singles between 18 and 40 years) also saw some intense competition. In the men's category, Michael Henning, Christian Hopf, and Marwin Rist clinched the top spots. For the women, the champions were yet to be determined.
The senior categories also saw some exciting matches. The men's 50+ category was won by Stefan Stummer, Gerhard Rothmeier, and Gerhard Nummer. In the men's 65+ category, Franz Gross took the title, with Anton Bleicher and Hubert Schmalzl following closely behind. The men's 60+ category was won by Christian Schweiger, with Klaus Huber and Simon Günther in second and third place, respectively.
Simon Klein (SpVgg Hainsacker) made a notable advancement in the men's A category. Michael Henning (Neutraubling) eventually won the category, with Christian Hopf (Kareth-Lappersdorf) in second place and Marwin Rist (Obertraubling) in third.
The event dates for the remaining district championships 2025/26 are as follows: Air Rifle and Air Pistol Shooting (23 September to 26 October 2025 in the Multi-Purpose Hall Zeitlarn), Cyclo-Cross (19 October 2025 in Wörth a.d.Donau), and Alpine Skiing and Snowboarding (7 February 2026 in St. Englmar).
The tournament would not have been possible without the outstanding support of many volunteers. Harald Bauer and Eva Seyfferth, along with Georg Barth (press officer), Tobias Koch, Andrea Reinisch, Letitia Piot, and Susanne and Alexander Wulf, have been managing and accounting for the tournament for nearly 40 years. Dr. Gerhard Ulrich and Harald Semmler have ensured smooth operations on-site for many years.
