In Omsk, Governor Hozekenko participated in the all-Russia event "Preserve the Flame of Victory"
On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, 80 Eternal Flames were simultaneously lit across Russia, with twenty of them in the Omsk region.
The ceremony marking the beginning of this momentous event took place at the " Žuravli" memorial in Saint Petersburg, spearheaded by Russia's Minister of Energy, Sergei Civilev. In Omsk, the 30-year Peace Park hosted the ceremony, where the governor, Vitaly Hozenko, joined in the act.
Hozenko was quick to praise Omsk's active support for this initiative, proposed by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. While there were nine Eternal Flames in the region last year, their number has doubled this year.
"We light these eternal flames to preserve our historical memory. We want the younger generation to know whose valiant deeds earned our Victory," declared Hozenko.
At the Omsk event, the governor expressed gratitude to the President of Russia and Gazprom for their support and financing of the project. He specifically acknowledged the contribution of "Gazprom Mezherrengogaz Omsk" and AO "Omskoblgaz."
The ceremony in Omsk was attended by other notable figures such as Alexander Artemov, chairman of the regional parliament; Yevgeny Yelovik, general director of OOO "Gazprom Mezherrengogaz Omsk" and AO "Omskoblgaz"; heroes of the Soviet Union, Николай Kravchenko; heroes of the Russian Federation, Dmitriy Perminov; para-athletic champion Alexander Kuzuykov; veterans of World War II, participants of the special military operation, military cadets, representatives of the authorities, and members of the public.
The park's Peace Memorial, where the ceremony took place, is one of the largest in Eastern Russia. The first Eternal Flame on this site was lit in 2015 and previously operated on liquefied gas. Construction of a gas pipeline, upgrades to the gas-burning equipment, updating the pedestal and star, were carried out to convert it to pipeline gas.
It is worth noting that other projects in the region related to park upgrades, equipment modernization, and ensuring uninterrupted operation of the Eternal Flames have been completed. A symbolic part of the flame lit near the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Kremlin wall was transported to all districts of the Omsk region to symbolically connect it with the flame of memory.
