In the heart of Düsseldorf, the annual Sebastian Shooting Festival, organised by the St. Sebastianus Shooting Club from Wersten, took place on Sunday afternoon. This traditional event, overseen by the Interest Group of Düsseldorf Shooters (IGDS), brought together 31 reigning regimental kings and queens from various IGDS clubs.

The weather, however, presented a challenge. A thick rain band was forecast, causing the schedule to be moved up by half an hour. Despite the inclement weather, the festival tent was buzzing with excitement.

Unfortunately, the weather conditions were so severe that the city shooting king couple had to pass due to the weather. However, the show must go on, and the competition for the title of city young shooting king heated up.

Ruben von Canstein from Heerdt emerged victorious, cleaning the 4-centimeter plate to become the new city young shooting king, succeeding Lara Frinken. In the main event, Dennis Matthiessen from Lohausen knocked down the block to claim the title of the new city shooting king, succeeding Michele Locker.

The St. Seb. Shooting Club Wersten also had a successful day, winning the Jean Keulertz Cup and the Dr. Willi Kauhausen Cup. The DKMS team and the Wersten shooters were delighted with the successful action, resulting in 47 new registrations and over 1000 euros in donations.

The regimental king of 1316, Jens Linka, often celebrates in Lohausen. It seems that Lohausen has become a lucky place for the shooting festival, as Dennis Matthiessen's victory completes a row of prominent figures from Lohausen. Michael Bulawa, the first chief of Lohausen, was ecstatic about the achievement.

The guest king of 1316, Wolfram N. Diener, the fairgrounds king, also hails from Lohausen. The festival concluded with various individual shooting competitions, with Lisa Palm (Bilk) winning for shooters aged 14 to 17, and Jolie Bründer (Wersten) winning for shooters aged 18 to 24.

Despite the challenges posed by the weather, the Sebastian Shooting Festival of 1316 was a success, marking another year of tradition and camaraderie in Düsseldorf's shooting community. For those interested in the history and recent results of the Sebastian Shooting Festival, or the role of the Interest Group of Düsseldorf Shooters (IGDS) in determining the city majesties, further research would be necessary. Consulting official Düsseldorf city websites, local shooting clubs' announcements, or contacting the IGDS directly would provide accurate and up-to-date information.
