Reinstated Governor Fubara Thanks Key Leaders in Rivers State

Siminalayi Fubara, the reinstated Governor of Rivers State, made a statewide broadcast upon his return to office, expressing his gratitude to several key figures who played significant roles in resolving the political crisis that engulfed the state.

Fubara began by thanking President Bola Tinubu for his role in ending the six-month emergency rule. He reaffirmed his utmost loyalty and eternal gratitude to the President. Fubara also acknowledged the support of Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen.

In his speech, Fubara reserved special praise for Nyesom Wike, describing him as "Our Leader." He thanked Wike for his role in resolving the political impasse in Rivers State. Fubara did not mention his deputy, Ngozi Odu, or members of the House of Assembly in his remarks.

The emergency rule, declared by President Tinubu, ended, and full democratic governance was restored to Rivers State. Notably, the Rivers State House of Assembly has passed a resolution to investigate the activities of Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd) during his tenure as Sole Administrator. However, Fubara did not mention Vice Admiral Ibas in his remarks.

Fubara's suspension from office, along with his deputy and members of the House of Assembly, took place on March 18, 2025. The investigation of Vice Admiral Ibas's activities during his tenure as sole administrator of Rivers State was commissioned by the Nigerian government. The outcome of this investigation is yet to be disclosed.

As Fubara settles back into his role as Governor, he will undoubtedly face challenges in navigating the results of the investigation and rebuilding the trust of the people of Rivers State. However, with the support of key leaders and the resolve of the people, he is well-positioned to lead the state forward.
