In a reported incident, 23 individuals were harmed in a drone assault on Kharkov, Ukraine, with three of them being minors, as per Ukrainian sources.

In the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the city of Kharkiv has become a frequent target of Russian drone attacks. Since the escalation of the conflict, particularly after 2022, Russian forces have been using drones as part of their offensive operations, causing significant damage and disruption to civilian areas.

On Monday, the Mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, confirmed that an attack caused damage to apartments and a kindergarten in the city. Emergency services are currently working at the scene of the attack, as stated by Oleg Sinegubov on the Telegram messaging app. Unfortunately, at least three children are among the 20 people injured in this attack.

The intensity and scale of these drone attacks have dramatically increased since the full-scale invasion in 2022. For instance, on July 6, 2025, Kharkiv experienced multiple strikes from 157 Shahed attack UAVs and various simulator drones, causing injuries to at least 23 people. This was part of a series of simultaneous attacks on Kharkiv, Kyiv, and Odesa.

The use of drones has become a prominent feature of Russian tactics in eastern Ukraine, reflecting a shift towards more frequent aerial harassment and precision strikes against civilian areas and infrastructure. Both Russia and Ukraine deny targeting civilians in the war, but the ongoing attacks have resulted in thousands of civilian casualties, the majority being Ukrainians.

The attack in the Sumy region of northeastern Ukraine, which occurred on Sunday evening, resulted in the death of two people and injured two others. Approximately 20 buildings were damaged in this attack.

In the early hours of the day, the city of Kyiv also experienced an attack, but there were no injuries reported. The scale of the attacks in Kharkiv, Sumy, and Kyiv is not yet clear.

It is important to note that Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, has been a regular target of Russian drone and missile attacks since Moscow launched a large-scale invasion more than three years ago. This article reports on multiple attacks in different regions of Ukraine, underscoring the ongoing security challenges faced by the country's population.

Moscow did not comment on any of the attacks mentioned. The international community continues to call for a peaceful resolution to the conflict and an end to the targeting of civilian areas.

In light of the escalation in war-and-conflicts, particularly the conflict in Ukraine, the general-news media is heavily reporting on the increased use of drones by Russian forces, including the recent attack that damaged apartments and a kindergarten in Kharkiv, resulting in injuries to at least 20 people, three of whom are children. Meanwhile, the politics surrounding the war continues to be a topic of concern, with the international community calling for a peaceful resolution and an end to the targeting of civilian areas, including the recent attack in the Sumy region. Additionally, crime-and-justice issues arise as these attacks cause harm to innocent civilians.
