Imran's sons' National Identity Cards have gone missing, asserts Aleema
In a recent development, Imran Khan's sister, Aleema Khan, has confirmed that the former Pakistani cricketer's sons, Kasim and Sulaiman Khan, have applied for new National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOPs) and visas. This move comes after the loss of their previous NICOPs, which allowed visa-free entry to Pakistan.
Aleema Khan clarified that the sons' application for visas, despite previously possessing NICOPs, is a result of the loss of their previous NICOPs. This necessitates the issuance of new documentation for identification and travel convenience.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has assured that if Imran Khan’s sons require visas or NICOPs, they would be issued without obstruction. He also offered to help resolve any visa application issues if provided tracking numbers.
The politically charged environment surrounding Imran Khan's visit to Pakistan has also affected the plans for his sons' visit. Aleema Khan had previously stated that Imran's sons have applied for Pakistani visas, and they are utilizing both options to reach Pakistan to meet their father in jail.
However, Aleema Khan dismissed claims of visa refusals as political harassment and an infringement upon the rights of a Pakistani citizen. She also stated that the NICOPs of Imran's sons are missing, and their visa and NICOP applications are currently in process or awaiting approval.
The number of visitors allowed to meet Imran Khan at Adiyala jail was recently reduced from six to two, adding to the complications of arranging a visit for his sons. Despite this, Aleema Khan stated that if the authorities wanted to grant permission for Imran's sons to travel to Pakistan, they could do so quickly.
The ambassador, according to Aleema, is awaiting approval from the ministry of interior in Islamabad for Imran's sons' visas. As the process unfolds, it remains to be seen whether the politically charged environment will allow for a smooth visit for Imran Khan's sons to meet their father in jail.
