Imran Khan pens a letter to the Chief Justice, expressing frustration that the courts have remained inaccessible to him.

Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has penned a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi, expressing his concerns over the restrictions on his wife, Bushra Bibi's, legal and constitutional rights, as well as her deteriorating health. The letter was submitted at the Supreme Court by Aleema Khan, Imran Khan's sister, on Thursday.

In the letter, Khan alleged that doctors were not being allowed to examine Bushra Bibi, and urged the chief justice to take notice of their situation. He further requested the protection of his and his wife's legal and constitutional rights.

Khan has been confined in solitary detention for 772 days in Adiala Jail. Despite this, he claimed that he was being treated better than other B-Class inmates, with a cook assigned to prepare his meals, access to a private courtyard for walking and cycling, and a range of amenities including healthcare, newspapers, books, and exercise facilities.

However, Khan described his 9x11 cell in Adiala Jail as a "cage." He also stressed that such a number of cases against a single individual does not exist in Pakistan's history, with more than 300 political cases having been lodged against him by the coalition government led by Prime Minister Shabaz Sharif, consisting of PML-N, PPP, and several smaller parties. This government holds a slim majority in parliament and has taken actions against supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and members of his PTI party following violent clashes with the military in May 2023.

Khan's sisters were also present during the submission of the letter. He expressed concern over the deteriorating health of Bushra Bibi and urged the chief justice to intervene. Imran Khan claimed that more than 300 political cases have been lodged against him, a fact that was previously communicated earlier this year by the Adiala jail administration. The current paragraph does not present any new facts.
