Imran Khan's sons, Suleiman Khan and Kasim Khan, have applied for National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) and visas to enter Pakistan. The sons, who currently reside in the United Kingdom, previously possessed NICOPs that were reported lost. Their visa applications have been submitted with tracking numbers issued by the Pakistan High Commission in London.

The NICOP application process for overseas Pakistanis like Imran Khan's sons involves providing proof of Pakistani nationality, a valid passport or previous NICOP, identity documents, photographs, and completed application forms submitted to the relevant Pakistani embassy, consulate, or National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) office. Since Kasim and Sulaiman had NICOPs before (now lost), they would apply for a replacement or renewal following standard procedures for lost cards, which involves submitting a lost NICOP report along with usual ID proofs.

The visa application process runs parallelly through the Pakistan High Commission, with tracking numbers assigned for monitoring the status. Government officials have stated there will be no obstruction in issuing their NICOPs and visas if applied for, though PTI alleges some delay or obstruction attempts. Both sons are confirmed Pakistani nationals entitled to these documents, allowing them to travel visa-free with NICOP.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan, who is currently in jail, has been behind bars since August 2023 after being booked in multiple cases since his ouster from power via the opposition's no-trust motion in April 2022. Reports emerged that Khan barred his children from traveling to Pakistan and partaking in any political activity, but the party later denied these reports. It was also revealed that Khan's jail privileges have been reinstated, including access to books and newspapers.

Pakistan witnessed a surge in terror activities, particularly in its Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan provinces, since the return of Taliban rulers in Afghanistan in 2021. According to reports, at least 476 incidents of terrorism were reported across KP during the first seven months of 2025, resulting in the loss of 121 lives and injuring 301 civilians. Furthermore, 55 members of other security forces were martyred, and 112 were injured during the same period. The province-wide wave of violence also claimed the lives of at least 10 Levies personnel and injured 8, while the Frontier Corps (FC) lost 48 personnel with another 109 wounded.

In a related development, Imran Khan's sister, Aleema Khan, announced that his sons would be participating in the August protest for his release. The PTI founder, however, disapproved of Aleema's recent remarks about Mishal Yousafzai becoming a senator and advised her to refrain from political commentary.

In a separate incident, Aleema Khan also requested the ambassador to take permission for the visa application for her brother's sons from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. There has been a discrepancy in the status of the visa application for Imran Khan's sons, as the embassy claims not to have received the application, but Aleema has the tracking number.

Imran Khan's criticism of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur continues, with the PTI founder suggesting he should resign if he fails to maintain law and order in the province. Khan remarked that if Gandapur is unable to resolve governance issues, someone else should be given a chance.

  1. The Pakistan High Commission in London is responsible for issuing tracking numbers for the visa applications of individuals like Suleiman Khan and Kasim Khan, who are applying for National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) and visas to enter Pakistan.
  2. Imran Khan's sister, Aleema Khan, recently requested the Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for permission for her brother's sons' visa application, which has created a discrepancy in the status of the application, as the Interior Ministry of Pakistan and the embassy are reporting different application receipt statuses.
  3. The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) is one of the pertinent Pakistani organizations where application forms for NICOPs are submitted by Pakistani nationals abroad, including the two sons of Imran Khan.
