Improving Your Short Game Could Reach New Peaks with Callaway Opus SP Wedges
New Callaway Opus SP Wedges Offer Enhanced Spin and Control
Callaway has launched its latest offering in the world of golf equipment – the Opus SP wedges. The SP in Opus SP stands for "Spin Pocket," a technology that defines the club’s performance characteristics.
The Opus SP wedges come with a two-piece construction, a feature that redistributes weight higher in the clubhead, raising the center of gravity (CG). This design promotes a lower launch and maximum spin for greater control around the greens.
One of the key details about Spin Pocket technology is the reshaping of the clubhead, which positions mass higher. This, in turn, helps produce more spin and a lower, more penetrating ball flight. The wedge face features the Spin Gen 2.0 face, which has a 17° groove angle with tighter spacing and deeper cross-hatch laser etching. This enhancement aims to boost friction, bite, and spin consistency across different lies.
The Opus SP wedges are designed to help golfers achieve precise, controlled scoring shots, including low, checking pitch shots that stop quickly on the green. These wedges have been tour-validated and are regarded as providing the best spin and control that Callaway has produced in its wedges to date.
The Opus SP wedges will be available in nine different lofts and six grind options. The X-grind, with 12° of bounce, is designed for those seeking forgiveness while executing a variety of shots, particularly in firmer conditions.
Callaway has also introduced the TT Dynamic Gold S200 and UST Recoil Dart HDC as the steel and graphite shaft options available for the Opus SP wedges, respectively.
The Opus SP wedges have a clean and compact look at address, and have been tour-validated. Notable returnees in the Opus SP wedges include the X-grind.
The Opus SP wedges will go on sale on 22/08/2025, and will be priced at $199/£179. Xander Schauffele, Jon Rahm, and Min Woo Lee have already put the Opus SP wedges in play at the Genesis Scottish Open.
With the Opus SP wedges, Callaway continues to push the boundaries of golf technology, offering golfers a chance to improve their short game and lower their scores.
Golfers can enhance their short game and attempt to lower their scores with the new Callaway Opus SP wedges, which are designed to provide the best spin and control in the brand's wedge history. These wedges come with golf bags, ensuring ease of transportation, and golfers can choose between golf irons with the TT Dynamic Gold S200 steel shaft or the UST Recoil Dart HDC graphite shaft.
