US Rapper Sean Kingston Sentenced to 42 Months in Prison for Fraud

Popular US rapper Sean Kingston, known for his hit single "Beautiful Girls," has been sentenced to three and a half years in federal prison for his role in a $1 million fraud scheme in Florida.

The sentence, handed down on August 15, 2025, by U.S. District Judge David Leibowitz, comes after Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, were convicted on conspiracy and wire fraud charges in May. Turner received a longer sentence of five years in prison.

The scheme involved the fraudulent acquisition of luxury goods such as a high-end SUV, jewelry, watches, and a large TV. Kingston and Turner used fake wire transfer receipts as proof of payment. Evidence presented in court included a text message from Kingston to his mother discussing the use of fake receipts.

The arrest of Kingston and Turner took place after a raid on Kingston's house in Florida in 2024. The charges against them were related to incidents that occurred in the same year. The allegations included defrauding luxury goods without paying for them.

Following the sentencing, Kingston was taken into custody immediately, despite requests for a later surrender due to health issues. He will also serve three years of supervised release after his prison term. Kingston has expressed remorse and views this experience as a learning opportunity. His defense team is reviewing options for potential appeals to protect his rights.

Janice Turner, Kingston's mother, was also found guilty in May and received a five-year prison sentence in July. The sentencing occurred in a court in the US state of Florida.
