Poker legend Daniel Negreanu is still in contention for the 2025 Player of the Year (POY) title, following a thrilling run in the $1,000 NLH 6-Max Championship. Although he narrowly missed out on his eighth World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet, his third-place finish has kept him firmly in the POY race.

Negreanu, who participated in the online event, started Day 3 of the Main Event today with a stack of 71,000 chips. The Canadian poker pro had been aiming for a first-place finish in the 6-Max Championship, as a win would have provided a significant boost to his POY points.

The final hand of Negreanu's elimination from the 6-Max Championship saw him holding against his opponent's . The board ran out , counterfeiting Negreanu's two pair (tens and jacks) and giving his opponent a bigger two pair (tens and queens).
