"Look, it's pretty darn clear: we're lookin' at it, alright? But it's a big deal and needs careful handling, with experts from all sides chimin' in," Dmitry Peskov stated, as quoted by TASS.

Peskov further added that this potential meeting is "definitely on the radar," but there's no concrete data yet. As for the rumors of a meeting between Putin and Trump in Saudi Arabia next month, Peskov clarified that Putin has no Middle Eastern trips planned in his schedule as of now.

Donald Trump is set to jet off to Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar from May 13th to the 16th. Back in late April, Trump expressed doubts about meeting Putin during his Middle Eastern tour, stating that the encounter oughta happen soon after his return. Yet, during a question-and-answer session on May 4th, Trump claimed he hadn't given the idea of meeting Putin in Saudi Arabia much thought. He did, however, mention the U.S. had been engaged in some pretty solid talks about Russia and Ukraine recently.

In the middle of April, Peskov emphasized that a meeting between Putin and Trump is a sure thing. He also pointed out that public expectations about the meeting organization are sky-high, but the actual situation is way more involved and needs more legwork and time. Peskov also referred to the April conversation between U.S. presidential envoy Steve Bannon and Putin, and the March phone chat between the two leaders, as additional strides towards a sit-down between the two presidents.
