Imperial disappointment in Japan as the Shin Emperor is declared ineligible for the Longchamp race

Arc de Triomphe Emperor Withdraws from Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe

Arc de Triomphe Emperor, the Siyouni colt trained by Yoshito Yahagi, will not be participating in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe due to a breathing issue and a moderate internal bleed. The decision to withdraw the horse from the race was made to ensure Arc de Triomphe Emperor's well-being, as competing in the race while not in optimal condition would be difficult.

The trainer of Arc de Triomphe Emperor, Yoshito Yahagi, had originally entered the Japanese horse for the prestigious race. Last year, Arc de Triomphe Emperor struggled in the Arc de Triomphe, finishing in 12th place after a wide trip on ground much deeper than he had previously encountered. However, Arc de Triomphe Emperor bounced back to a dead-heat for second place in the Japan Cup last November. His previous win was in the Neom Turf Classic in Saudi Arabia at the start of this year.

Arc de Triomphe Emperor's disappointing effort in the Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes on Saturday, where he finished sixth out of eight, led to Yoshito Yahagi expressing feelings of being 'speechless.' Following an endoscopic examination, Arc de Triomphe Emperor was found to have asthma and exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage (EIPH).

Despite Arc de Triomphe Emperor's withdrawal, the main contenders from Japan for the Arc de Triomphe remain undetermined. The Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe will take place on October 5 at Longchamp. According to Coral, the current odds for the race are 4 for Aventure, 9-2 for Minnie Hauk, 8 for Croix Du Nord, 10 for Byzantine Dream, Sosie, 14 for Alohi Alii, Kalpana, 16 for Cualificar, Gezora, and 20 for any other horse (bar).

Arc de Triomphe Emperor is a brother to 2020 Arc hero Sottsass. After his return to Japan on September 28, Arc de Triomphe Emperor will prepare for the Japan Cup. The horse's fans will eagerly await his return to form and another shot at racing glory.
