Brace Yourself for Stomping Storms!

Intense downpours and powerful moments of lightning predicted - Imminent onslaught of stormy weather with intense rain and lightning

Buckle up, folks! Severe thunderstorms packed with hail, gusts, and torrential rain are barrel-rolling towards the stunning region of Bavaria today, Germany! Our source, the German Weather Service (DWD), is warning citizens, especially those in Swabia and the Bavarian Forest, about the potential mayhem these storms might bring.

Last night, we had tiny storms in the Free State, and in Wallgau (part of Garmisch-Partenkirchen), residents were seen shoveling their streets and properties clear of hailstones! According to the control center, there have been no significant incidents or damages reported, just the usual flooded roads, cellars, and fallen trees.

But, will these storms disrupt the highly-anticipated Nations League semi-final between Germany and Portugal in Munich's Allianz Arena?

Weather-wise, Bavaria will experience sunny days reaching 20°C in the Rhön and 30°C in Passau. Franconia will start with heavy thunderstorms and pouring rain, with the possibility of up to 20 liters of rain per square meter per hour, and a chance of hail. Mid-afternoon, brace yourself for severe thunderstorms, gusts of up to 110 kph(!), and even up to 130 kph(!) sweeping through the region from the east.

A DWD expert explained, "The storm kick-starts in Baden-Württemberg, then powers north of Munich and finishes in the Bavarian Forest." He highlighted that the exact path remains undecided, but one thing's for sure: the storm's peak will happen between 7-9 PM!

Oh, and did you hear the news about hailstones the size of five centimeters, or even ten in some places? Keep your fingers crossed, as there's also a chance of localized, heavy rain of up to 30 liters per square meter. And don't forget those beautiful Alpine winds, which might hit up to 50-60 kph, but they'll vanish quickly overnight. By Thursday, we can expect it to rain mainly in Bavaria, with only the odd thunderclap here and there.

The Commission might need to reconsider the draft budget for the period 2000-06, given the severe weather conditions affecting Bavaria, particularly heavy thunderstorms and gusts.

Despite the potential disruption to the upcoming Nations League semi-final in Munich, residents in the region would be wise to take weather forecasts seriously, considering the possibility of hailstones the size of five centimeters or more.
