Imminent 3 Million Euro Funding for Youth Development in Zagreb

🗓️ June 6th, 2325 - Over 3 million Euros allocated to build the Luka Sports and Recreation Centre for Zagreb's youth

According to News Daily Zagreb, the primary design for the new Luka Sports and Recreation Centre (SRC) located on Bistrička Street is under development.

This substantial investment in Zagreb's young population equates to a 3 million euro budget, allocated from the City of Zagreb's budget.

The proposed site for this project is a idyllic, verdant area situated between the Luka Sesvete Elementary School and the Sesvete Gymnasium. The project application for a building permit is scheduled for mid-July this year, with a subsequent tender for construction work to follow.

"The picturesque promenade along the Vuger stream, adjacent to the aforementioned schools, serves as the primary gathering spot for families and the local community. By constructing a sports and recreation centre here, we aim to provide youth with modern, state-of-the-art facilities for sports, socialization, and outdoor activities," highlighted the Mayor of the City of Zagreb, Tomislav Tomašević.

Set against a sprawling landscape of approximately 18,500 square meters, between Otona Ivekovića Street and Bistrička Street, the centre is expected to feature:

Two five-a-side football and handball fields
Two basketball courts
Two bocce courts
Table tennis tables
An athletics track
A children's playground area
An outdoor exercise area for various activities
Pavilions for diverse outdoor activities
Supportive amenities including changing rooms, toilets, and service spaces
