The Enescu - JTI Immersive Experience at the George Enescu Festival

The George Enescu International Festival, one of the world's leading classical music events, is celebrating its 27th edition between August 24 and September 21, 2025. As part of this year's festivities, the festival is introducing a new immersive concert series called the Enescu - JTI Immersive Experience.

Taking place at MINA - Museum of Immersive New Art in Bucharest, this series presents classical and contemporary music in an innovative format where music, visuals, and movement combine in a multisensory experience, blending tradition and new technology. The series runs from August 24 to September 21, 2025, with performances every Thursday and Friday at 8:00 PM.

The immersive concert series features four distinct artistic formulas that create a synesthetic experience, inviting the audience not just to listen but to participate emotionally and explore sound integrated with immersive imagery and movement. This approach extends George Enescu’s classical heritage into contemporary forms without breaking with tradition.

Specifically, the immersive rendition of Enescu’s Poema Română (Op. 1), composed in 1897 when Enescu was 16, is featured prominently. On August 19, 2025, which marks the 144th anniversary of Enescu's birth, there was a special free event at MINA, showcasing Poema Română: Immersive Experience through screenings every 30 minutes from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM. Admission was free with reservation.

The first two immersive concert performances took place on August 28 and 29, 2025, kicking off the series officially with a fusion of sound, image, and movement to create a new dimension in experiencing Enescu’s music. The exact lineup of artists has not been detailed in the sources, but it is emphasized that young artists give a contemporary voice to the classical repertoire, making the music resonate with modern audiences.

Other performances during the series include BACH IN THE JUNGLE, featuring Leticia Moreno on violin and Claudio Constantini on bandoneon on September 4 and 5, and KLIMT MEETS BÖSENDORFER - Ver Sacrum featuring pianist Alexandra Silocea, mezzo-soprano Patricia Nolz, and actress Laëtitia Eïdo on September 11 and 12. Additionally, ULTIMA PIESĂ draws inspiration from Shakespeare's The Tempest and features music, immersive projections, and artificial intelligence on September 18 and 19.

The immersive visual experience was created by Les Ateliers Nomad with support from JTI - Immersive Experience. Admission to the series is free, but reservation is required through the Eventim platform. The immersive projection takes place every 30 minutes starting at 6:30 PM (on August 19) or 18:30 (for the rest of the series), with the last session beginning at 9:00 PM (on August 19) or 21:00 (for the rest of the series).

It's important to note that the event on August 19, 2025, at MINA is a special event and not a part of the Enescu - JTI Immersive Experience series. Gigi Căciuleanu's production ONIRIUS, set to music by Paul Ilea, premieres on August 28 and 29, marking the launch of the first immersive concert series in the history of the George Enescu Festival.
