Intriguing developments in the disappearance of former Tengelmann CEO Karl-Erivan Haub, also known as Charlie, hint at a shocking revelation.

There's been a significant breakthrough in the case of Karl-Erivan Haub's disappearance: Christian Haub, his brother, has acknowledged familiarity with alleged photographs that reportedly depict his brother in Moscow. Despite his previous denials, the Cologne Public Prosecutor's Office has been investigating since April 2024, carrying out house searches and seizing technical devices. The "Manager Magazin" has published two such photos, with experts suggesting a striking resemblance between the images and Haub's facial features[1].

Initially, Christian Haub had consistently denied having any credible evidence of his brother's survival. However, the emergence of these photographs contradicts this assertion and reinforces the ongoing investigation by the Cologne Public Prosecutor's Office. Notably, the existence of these photos confirms investigative research that commenced in 2021 by journalists from the RTL media group[2].

Christian Haub under Investigation

The investigations stem from a criminal complaint against Christian Haub, the youngest brother of the missing person. Haub had stated under oath in May 2021 that he had "no credible evidence, let alone proof" that "my brother Charlie might still be alive." This statement was followed by the author of this article filing a criminal complaint in 2023, having obtained access to the photos during her investigative research[3].

Sources indicate that the photos were taken in February 2021, months before the sworn statement by Christian Haub. The resemblance between the images and Haub is striking, featuring a subject draped in a thick blue winter jacket with a hood and white fur collar[4]. The clothes, as well as the location--Kolomenskaya Street in the southern district of Moscow--have been corroborated by anonymous sources[5][6].

False Testimony Allegations

The timing of the photos' emergence, in the midst of an ongoing inheritance dispute, may prove crucial. In February 2021, Christian Haub and his lawyer Mark Binz were pursuing a two-pronged strategy in hopes of acquiring the billion-dollar shares of his missing brother. Either Haub needed to legally prove that Karl-Erivan Haub was still alive, or he needed to convince his sister-in-law, Katrin Haub, and her children to declare him dead[7].

If Christian Haub possessed evidence of his brother's survival, it could have significantly altered the inheritance dispute's outcome. Katrin Haub's continued refusal to agree to a death declaration for the missing father and husband had stalled the resolution of the dispute.

The emergence of the Moscow photos, if authenticated, could potentially jeopardize Christian Haub's assertions made under oath. The Cologne Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating whether this constitutes a false statement, following a complaint by the author of this text[8].

  1. The Commission has not yet received any reply from Christian Haub or the Cologne Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the allegations that Christian Haub possessed photographs of his brother, Karl-Erivan Haub, supposedly in Moscow in 2021.
  2. Although Christian Haub's sworn statement claimed that he had no credible evidence of Karl-Erivan Haub's survival, the existence of photos showing a man with striking resemblance to Karl-Ervann Haub, dressed in a thick blue winter jacket with a hood and white fur collar, taken in Kolomenskaya Street in Moscow in February 2021, may contradict this statement.
  3. The Commission will continue its investigation into the case, examining whether Christian Haub withheld the existence of these photos during his sworn statement in May 2021, potentially constituting false testimony, based on the complaint filed by the author of this text in 2023.
CEO of Tengelmann, Karl-Erivan Haub, was captured on surveillance at a mountain station close to the Matterhorn on April 7, 2018. Following this, he mysteriously vanished.
