Ilya Shmukler, award-winning pianist from Park ICM, set to debut in Kansas City following successful performance at the Concours Geza Anda Competition this summer.
Ilya Shmukler, a talented young pianist, has an exciting schedule ahead. After his notable achievements at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and other prestigious events, he will be gracing the stages of Kansas City and Helzberg Hall at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.
In 2017, Shmukler advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, showcasing his exceptional talent at a young age. Since then, he has continued to impress the world of classical music, winning top prizes at numerous competitions, including the Wideman International Piano Competition, the Lewisville Lake Symphony International Competition, the Artist Presentation Society competition, and the Shigeru Kawai International Piano Competition.
In 2022, Shmukler was one of six finalists at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and earned an additional prize for "Best Performance of a Mozart Concerto." His latest triumph came this summer, when he won the Concours Geza Anda Piano Competition in Zurich, Switzerland.
Shmukler's first Kansas City performance since his victory at the Concours Geza Anda Piano Competition will take place on October 5, 2024, at the 1900 Building in Mission Woods, Kan. The performance will feature pieces by Franz Schubert, Franz Liszt, Robert Schumann, and the famous "Moonlight Sonata."
In addition to this concert, Shmukler will perform in Kansas City again on March 1, 2025, as part of the “Stanislav & Friends: Echoes of Spain” series at Helzberg Hall. Shmukler has been studying at the Park University's International Center for Music since 2019 under the tutelage of Stanislav Ioudenitch. He earned a graduate certificate in music performance in 2021, a graduate artist's diploma in music performance in 2023, and is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in performance from Park University.
