Iloilo City rolls out fuel subsidies for 1,700+ tricycle drivers on March 25
The Iloilo City Government will begin distributing fuel subsidy coupons to public transport drivers on March 25, 2026. The programme aims to ease financial pressure caused by rising fuel prices linked to the Middle East conflict. The first phase will cover 1,718 tricycle drivers and operators from six districts: Arevalo, Molo, Jaro, La Paz, City Proper, and Mandurriao. Each beneficiary will receive P500 worth of petroleum products per month.
Fuel loading is scheduled for March 27 and 28, 2026, between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. at designated gasoline stations. City officials will assist drivers during the process.
To claim the subsidy, beneficiaries must present a driver's licence, a valid ID with three specimen signatures, and an updated OR/CR. Operators with multiple units can send an authorised representative for each vehicle.
After tricycle drivers, the city will release coupons for around 1,500 public utility jeepney (PUJ) drivers in Batch 1. The subsidy programme targets transport workers struggling with increased fuel costs. Fuel loading will take place over two days, with city staff on hand to support beneficiaries at selected stations.
