Illegal pace-bowler Mustafizur Rahman prepares to make his first appearance for Dubai Capitals in the ILT20 tournament.

The International League T20 (ILT20) is set to kick off on 2nd July 2025 in the United Arab Emirates, with teams from various cities competing in the T20 cricket tournament. One of these teams, the Dubai Capitals, has signed Bangladeshi cricketer Mustafizur Rahman, but his participation could be in jeopardy due to a potential scheduling conflict with the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

The BPL, another major cricket tournament, is expected to start around the same time as the ILT20. If the BPL dates clash directly with the ILT20, Mustafizur's No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) may not be granted. The BCB has a history of restricting NOCs when domestic schedules clash with foreign leagues, and negotiations outcomes may vary.

If the BPL starts late in December, BCB sources expect that Mustafizur would likely get the NOC to play the initial part of the ILT20, which is scheduled from December 2 to January 4. However, if the BPL dates clash directly with the ILT20, Mustafizur would not be able to participate in ILT20 as the BCB prioritizes domestic commitments like the BPL.

Mustafizur will be joining a diverse team at the Dubai Capitals, alongside international players such as Dasun Shanaka, Dushmantha Chameera, and Gulbadin Naib. If Mustafizur is unable to secure the NOC, it could potentially create a vacancy in the Dubai Capitals squad.

This potential conflict between the ILT20 and BPL schedules highlights the challenges faced by international cricketers in managing their commitments across multiple leagues. The exact number of teams participating in the ILT20 tournament is not specified, but the tournament will be held in the United Arab Emirates.

The BCB's decision on the NOC could have wider implications for the overall organization and smooth running of the ILT20 tournament. It could also have implications for other players in similar situations with competing tournament schedules.

Luke Wood was originally a member of the Dubai Capitals squad but has been replaced by Mustafizur Rahman. The final decision on Mustafizur's participation awaits confirmation of the BPL dates.
