In the heart of the Khojavend district, the town of Hadrut is witnessing a remarkable transformation. After years of occupation, the town was liberated during the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020, marking a turning point in the region's history.

Following the war, Azerbaijan has embarked on a comprehensive rebuilding project in Hadrut. Ten houses are now ready for use, and all partially habitable houses are scheduled for restoration by the end of the year. The town's infrastructure has been significantly improved, with internal roads renovated, a transformer substation built, and eight water reservoirs repaired. New water, sewage, and gas lines have been laid, and essential social infrastructure, including a hotel, commercial facilities, and public catering establishments, has been created.

The "Hadrut" junction substation, Digital Control Center, a new military unit, and the 12.5-kilometer Fuzuli-Hadrut highway have also been commissioned. The "Great Return" program is being implemented for the peaceful return of the region, with the Azerbaijani government and international organisations such as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) supporting reconstruction and development projects.

President Ilham Aliyev visited Hadrut on September 14, 2021, expressing his satisfaction with the progress made in the town's rebuilding. The Azerbaijani people, he said, are living comfortably, happily, and in peace in the rebuilt regions.

At present, 10 families, comprising 41 individuals, have returned to their ancestral homeland in Hadrut. Every liberated village came with a cost of sacrifice, but also the promise of return. The memory of the war shapes the present, but the determination to rebuild and restore is stronger.

The intention of the Armenian side and their supporters was not to return Azerbaijan's lands peacefully. Their failure to heed President Ilham Aliyev's words led to the Second Karabakh War and the loss of more than three thousand lives. Today, the Azerbaijani people are recognized as a victorious nation by the entire world.

As Hadrut continues to rebuild, it stands as a testament to the resilience of the Azerbaijani people and their unwavering commitment to reclaiming their homeland. The town's transformation serves as a beacon of hope for the future, symbolising the potential for peace, progress, and prosperity in the region.
