Iga Świątek splits with coach Wim Fissette after early 2026 struggles
Iga Świątek has parted ways with her coach, Wim Fissette, after a difficult start to the 2026 season. The Polish tennis star announced the decision on Instagram following her early exit from the Miami Open. Their partnership had lasted just over a year and included a major triumph at Wimbledon in 2025.
Fissette began coaching Świątek in October 2024. Under his guidance, she secured her first Wimbledon title the following summer. The victory marked a high point in their collaboration.
This year, however, results have faltered. Świątek has failed to progress beyond the quarterfinals in any tournament. Her current win-loss record stands at 12–6, with no titles added to her tally. The split was confirmed on Monday, March 23, 2026. Świątek shared the news publicly shortly after her loss in Miami, bringing an end to their 17-month working relationship.
The decision follows a run of disappointing performances in early 2026. Without a single title this season, Świątek will now look for a new coaching direction. Fissette's departure comes despite their success together at Wimbledon last year.
