Identified Suspect in Attempted Assassination of Prilepin

In an update to the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict, a recent search of available information reveals no verified evidence or credible reports that link Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to an assassination attempt on Russian National Guard colonel and writer Zakhar Prilepin.

On April 6, 2023, a car carrying a Russian national and his driver Alexander Shubin was detonated, resulting in Shubin's death and injuries to the passenger. However, the search results do not provide any new information about the co-conspirators in the attack.

Meanwhile, a separate development has emerged concerning the migrant enclave in an unspecified region. The Human Rights Council has expressed concerns about this situation, but there is no mention of any connection between the migrant enclave and the previous events involving Prilepin and Zelensky. The migrants in question are from Central Asia and the Caucasus, and Prilepin has stated that "the way to deal with this situation is completely different."

In a related matter, Alexander Permyakov, a Ukrainian citizen, was sentenced to life imprisonment in September 2024 for the assassination attempt on Prilepin. Permyakov, who is listed as a terrorist and extremist by Rosfinmonitoring, was found guilty under six articles of the Russian Criminal Code, including 205 ("Terrorist Act") and 222 ("Illegal Arms Trafficking"). The court established that Permyakov used anti-tank mines to create explosive devices and placed them under the road near Prilepin's home.

Despite the conviction, three co-conspirators in the assassination attempt on Prilepin remain at large. There is no information about any official response or action from the Russian government regarding this situation.

It is worth noting that Zakhar Prilepin has accused Zelensky of personally ordering the assassination attempt on him, but the search results do not support this claim.
