Identified Leadership of Arsenal: Who is the CEO and the Board Members Post-Revamp?
Arsenal Announces Major Boardroom Overhaul and New Appointments
Arsenal Football Club has undergone a significant boardroom overhaul, with several new faces joining the team and a key promotion within the ranks.
The most notable additions include Kelly Blaha, Otto Maly, and Dave Steiner, who have been appointed as associates to the Arsenal board. Kelly Blaha, a seasoned accountant with experience at PwC and professional services firm EKS&H, has also served as senior vice president, sports finance at Kroenke Sports and Entertainment for three years. Otto Maly, chairman of Maly Commercial Realty and president and director of special projects at Kroenke Holdings, will manage the day-to-day operations of the group's companies. Dave Steiner, a long-time advisor to KSE, is a notable figure in the documentary filmmaking, education, and political activism circles, particularly associated with UCLA.
Ben Winston, a TV producer and Arsenal fan, has also joined the Arsenal board as a non-executive director. Winston, who co-founded TV, film, and music production powerhouse Fulwell 73, has won 13 Emmys for his work on shows including The Late Late Show with James Corden and The Kardashians.
In a related development, Tim Lewis, the executive vice-chairman of Arsenal, has departed as part of the boardroom overhaul. The club did not provide reasons for Tim Lewis's exit.
Richard Garlick, who joined Arsenal as director of football operations in 2021, has been promoted to CEO following the changes. Garlick was previously promoted to managing director of Arsenal after the departure of the previous CEO, Vinai Venkatesham. Lord Harris of Peckham, the founder of Carpetright and an Arsenal director for 20 years, remains on the board.
Josh Kroenke, co-chair of Arsenal, has expressed delight at Garlick's promotion and welcomed the new additions to the board. "Richard's promotion is well-deserved, and I am confident that he will continue to drive Arsenal forward," Kroenke said. "We are also excited to welcome Kelly, Otto, Dave, and Ben to the Arsenal family. Their diverse skills and experiences will be invaluable as we continue to build on our success."
Kelly Blaha's appointment is particularly significant as she is believed to be the first woman on the Arsenal board since Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith left in 2008. "I am thrilled to be joining the Arsenal board and look forward to contributing to the club's continued success," Blaha said. "Arsenal has always been a special part of my life, and I am honoured to have the opportunity to help shape its future."
The changes come at an exciting time for Arsenal, as the club is currently in the midst of a strong season and is competing for major trophies. The new board members and CEO will play a crucial role in shaping the club's strategy and ensuring its long-term success.
