Identical Facades Unraveled: Bio-series Examines Similarities Between Chespirito and Miguel Islas, Juan Lecanda

A Peek into Miguel Islas' Role in "Chespirito: Not Really on Purpose"

Miguel Islas, a familiar face in Mexican films, has landed a significant role in the HBO Max bioseries, "Chespirito: Not Really on Purpose." In this series, he embodies the iconic character, Ramón Valdés, or Don Ramón, from the legendary comedy shows by Roberto Gómez Bolaños, better known as Chespirito.

The pathway to Miguel's involvement in the bioseries isn't explicitly clear, but it's standard practice for actors to secure roles through auditions or invitations based on their past performances and character fit.

"Chespirito: Not Really on Purpose" delves into the life of Roberto Gómez Bolaños, tracing his journey from a scriptwriter to a household name. It sheds light on his personal victories and trials amid his comical brilliance and resilience.

Arguably one of the most captivating scenes in the series is the recreation of the episode where the Neighborhood romps in Acapulco. This scene holds significance not only because it was the single episode filmed outside a studio, but also because they elected to film at the very same hotel and beach where the original scenes were shot, four decades ago.

The beach sequence consumed the entire day for rehearsals, as it was filmed during sunset, and required merely a couple of takes to get it right. That day, Miguel shares, was extraordinary. Upon completion, the entire cast formed a circle, and Roberto and Paulina Gómez Fernández, Chespirito's children, revealed that on that very day, Chespirito would have turned 92.

And yes, rejoice fellow fans, for "Chespirito: Not Really on Purpose" premieres tomorrow on Max streaming platform!
