Iconic 'Eleanor' Mustang from the movie Gone in 60 Seconds has returned

The 2025 Ford Mustang Eleanor, a factory-built replica of the iconic 1967 Shelby GT500, is making its official return after a 20-year hiatus. This special edition car marks the culmination of a legal battle that cleared copyright issues surrounding its design, setting the stage for a blend of classic look and modern performance and technology.

Engine Options

The 2025 Mustang Eleanor offers a range of engine options to cater to different tastes and budgets. The standard engine is a 5.0-liter Coyote V8, delivering 480 horsepower. For those seeking more power, a Roush 427-cubic-inch V8 producing 550 horsepower is available at an additional cost of $18,000. The top-tier option is an Aluminator V8 with a Whipple 3.0L supercharger, generating an impressive 875 horsepower for $19,500 extra.

Price and Customization

With a starting price of $500,000, the 2025 Mustang Eleanor is not for the faint-hearted. Customizations such as 18-inch forged wheels add $7,500 to the cost, while full upgrades can push the price above $550,000.

Performance and Features

The 2025 Mustang Eleanor boasts a range of performance upgrades, including Willwood four-piston brakes, with six-piston brakes available as an option. The car rolls on 17-inch lightweight cast aluminum wheels with Goodyear Eagle tires, upgradeable to forged wheels. The deluxe factory interior features premium door panels, stainless trim, and brushed aluminum inserts. Each car is built to order, badged, and certified as an Anniversary Edition, delivered with a certificate of authenticity signed by the original build team.

Nitrous Oxide System

Contrary to some speculations, the 2025 Mustang Eleanor does not feature a nitrous oxide system as part of its announced offerings. The focus is on powertrains ranging from naturally aspirated and supercharged V8 engines.

Background

The team responsible for building the 11 Mustangs used in the 2000 version of Gone in 60 Seconds is back together, led by Ray Claridge, who was the founder and owner of Cinema Vehicle Services until 2016. Eleanor's popularity spawned numerous imitators and tribute cars, and a copyright battle between Denise Halicki (widow of the original movie's creator) and Carroll Shelby Licensing Inc. occurred over Eleanor.

Reservations for owning a piece of movie history are being taken now, with various suspension and alloy wheel combinations offered as options. The five-speed Tremec manual transmission is standard, but a six-speed stick shift or 10-speed Ford automatic can be found on the options list.

  1. In addition to the standard 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine, the electric car lifestyle also caters to a range of motoring preferences with offered engine options in the 2025 Mustang Eleanor, including a Roush 427-cubic-inch V8 and an Aluminator V8 with a Whipple 3.0L supercharger.
  2. The 2025 Mustang Eleanor's deluxe car lifestyle features are not limited to performance upgrades and customizable interior options; it also overlaps with entertainment, as the team behind the 2000 version of Gone in 60 Seconds is responsible for its production.
  3. Movies and TV fans are now able to reserve their own piece of movie history, as the 2025 Mustang Eleanor, just like its 2000 version counterpart, is being offered for purchasing.
  4. Contrary to speculations suggesting it might be available in the 2025 Mustang Eleanor lineup, a nitrous oxide system is not part of the car's announced offerings, with the focus primarily on powerful V8 engines.
