Depeche Mode Stuns Fans with Unrevealed Track at New York Film Premiere
Live Performance: Depeche Mode Unveils Unexpected Track - Iconic band Depeche Mode releases fresh track
In a shocking twist, Depeche Mode, the iconic English synth-rock band, left attendees of the Tribeca Festival in New York blown away with a brand new, unheard track during the screening of their concert film, "Depeche Mode: M." Cinephiles quickly recognized the three-minute-long piece played during the end credits on Thursday night (local time) as an as-yet-unknown gem.
The mysterious new track, leaked on popular platform X and reportedly dubbed "In the End" by the die-hard fan page "depechemode.de," has been confirmed by music magazine "Rolling Stone."
"Depeche Mode: M" delves into the thrilling performances of the legendary electronic band's concerts in Mexico City during 2023 and 2024, following the release of their album "Memento Mori." This marks the first album from vocalist Dave Gahan and songwriter Martin Gore, produced without founding member and keyboardist Andy Fletcher, who tragically passed away at the age of 60 in May 2022.
Following the screening, a Q&A unveiled that "In the End" is, in fact, one of the four songs recorded during the "Memento Mori" sessions that didn't make it onto the album. During the discussion, Martin Gore humorously hinted at the fate of the remaining three unreleased tracks. To date, Sony Records has remained silent on any potential new releases from the band.
Depeche Mode, known for hits such as "Enjoy The Silence," "People Are People," and "Just Can't Get Enough," was formed back in 1980 and retains a faithful legion of fans while boasting more than 100 million records sold. "Memento Mori" was one of the most successful albums of 2023 in Germany.
