Ice Skating at Bensberg Rink Postponed for School and Club Activities
The Bensberg ice rink, a popular venue for school and club sports, has been closed indefinitely due to safety concerns regarding its ceiling structure.

The administration had informed the Bensberger Eislauf-Verein, the club responsible for its maintenance and upkeep, that the ceiling structure needed repair or an expert report guaranteeing its load-bearing capacity. In an effort to ensure the safety of its users, the lower building authority has suspended the use of the ice rink indefinitely. The city administration had previously granted a one-time exception permit for one year, conditional on the elimination of the defects under static specialist supervision. Yet, no certificate of approval from a state-recognized structural engineer has been submitted.
