Ex-Gridiron great Tom Brady has thrown his weight behind the cause of Munich surfers attempting to revive the beloved Eisbach Wave. He posted a snap of himself at this renowned surf spot on Insta, with a message that read: "Surfing ain't a crime!" Various media outlets have reported this development.
Since the grim demise of a 33-year-old surfer in April, the Eisbach Wave has been off-limits to surfers due to an ongoing probe. The unfortunate soul's leash became entangled, preventing her from disentangling herself, eventually leading to her untimely passing in the hospital. The local authorities are sifting through this incident. As part of the temporary surfing prohibition, offenders risk being slapped with a hefty fine of up to €50,000.

In spite of the ban, at least one surfer has been caught riding the wave since then. A video demonstrating another surfer has surfaced on Insta.
Mayor's Plea for Patience
Munich's mayor, Dieter Reiter (SPD), requested surfers to have some patience mid-May. He clarified that the public prosecutor's office requires additional time to wrap up their investigations, with the hope that they'll eventually clear the case. Once the case is cleared, he promised swift actions to make the wave surfable again as soon as possible.
Following the accident, more than thousands of advocates of the world-famous surfing wave reached out to the mayor, imploring him to reopen the wave.
