ICC ODI Rankings see abrupt changes with the vanishing and reappearance of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma

In a surprising turn of events, Indian cricket icons Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli found themselves temporarily absent from the International Cricket Council (ICC) One Day International (ODI) batting rankings due to a technical glitch or system error.

The unexpected disappearance of the two players, who were previously ranked No. 2 and No. 4 respectively, from the top 100 players list sparked confusion and speculation about their careers. However, after a swift investigation and clarification, the ICC reinstated both players to their original positions within the same day.

The glitch was confined to the ODI rankings; the Test and T20I rankings were unaffected. Rohit Sharma, who had an impressive unbeaten 120 against Pakistan, climbed to ninth place, while Kohli reclaimed fourth place.

The error led to unsubstantiated rumors about retirement, which the ICC officially denied. Shubman Gill leads the men's ODI batting rankings with 784 points, followed by Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer who are among the top 10.

In the T20I rankings, Yashasvi Jaiswal remains in 10th place, while Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma continue to hold the top two spots. Dewald Brevis has jumped to 12th place, and Suryakumar Yadav is ranked sixth. Mitchell Marsh has moved up to 48th, and Glenn Maxwell has moved up to 30th.

Notably, Temba Bavuma is currently in 23rd place, and Keshav Maharaj reclaimed the top spot in the ODI bowling rankings following a match-winning performance in the first ODI against Australia in Cairns. Maharaj was named Player of the Match in this game.
