"Let me lay it out there": Mola Adebisi declares on gender roles in the jungle
In the first fortnight of the legendary jungle retreat, Mola Adebisi was recognized mainly for his eagerness to leave the camp as soon as possible. On the 13th day, the ex-moderator of Viva finally grabbed some limelight. Alongside Eric Stehfest, he emerged victorious in the jungle challenge, defeating Gigi Birofio and Thorsten Legat. However, that wasn't all; Adebisi also shared his thoughts on feminism. Spoiler alert: he's not an advocate for the movement.
Gender Roles and Feminism: Adebisi's Perspective
"I'm not a proponent of feminism," he declared, sparking a mixed reaction among the campers. Some expressed concern about the impending discussion, while others appeared frustrated at having to listen to this. The nearly 51-year-old, soon to be a father again, proclaimed that his wife was his "queen," but he was the "law" of the household. He clarified that while he may not govern the household, the roles are clearly defined. "But my wife makes it clear when we're both in the car: 'I'm not fueling up this car, it's your job.' She doesn't want to. She's Romanian, and that's just how it is there."
Adebisi then delved into statistical data, highlighting that certain professions are dominated by men, while others are female-dominated. He posed a question to his female confidants: "What about a male midwife?"
Sarah Knappik, particularly, found his viewpoints challenging. She disagreed with his "outdated perspective" on genders and roles. "Who told this guy: This is the woman from the fairy tale, this is the man from the fairy tale. There are many types of women, there are many types of men. That's perfectly fine," she asserted.
Gigi Birofio, the famous Italo-macho from dating TV, offered his unique take on the situation. While his father worked and then relaxed, his mother was responsible for the household chores and raising the children alongside her paid job. In Adebisi's view, a woman is "merely superior to a man," Gigi concluded.
As for Adebisi's statements, Eric Stehfest remained silent. "I don't wish to comment, or else it'll escalate," he murmured, lounging on the hammock. It's possible he doesn't share Adebisi's views. Previously, Stehfest has spoken extensively about handling traditional gender roles, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect.
"Mola Adebisi's victory in the jungle challenge showcased his bravery, despite his controversial stance on gender roles."
"Sarah Knappik may have disagreed with Adebisi's views on gender roles, but she admired his honesty in sharing them."
