Hytale’s Early Access launch draws 2.8 million players in a single day

Hytale, a long-awaited multiplayer game inspired by Minecraft, has finally entered Early Access. The launch took place on 13 January 2023, drawing over 2.8 million players in its first day alone. Developers describe this version as unfinished, with plans to refine it based on community input.

The game’s journey began more than a decade ago as a series of Minecraft minigames by Hypixel. After years of development, Riot Games acquired Hytale in 2020, only to cancel it two years later. Simon Collins-Laflamme, the original creator, later revived the project under an independent studio.

Early Access marks a fresh start, though Collins-Laflamme admits the current build remains 'unpolished and incomplete'. The team aims to shape the game through player feedback, calling it 'the forever game' fans deserve. Alongside the launch, composer Oscar Garvin released a new single, This Is Our Tale, celebrating Hytale’s return. The full soundtrack, Hytale Music: Original Game Soundtrack (Themes & Songs), is now available to stream. It includes five tracks: Origins Of Orbis, Beyond The Biomes, Path Of Adventure, Echoes In The Night, and Rise Of The Guardians.

Hytale’s Early Access debut has already broken expectations, with millions of players testing its features. The soundtrack’s release adds to the excitement, while developers continue refining the experience. Future updates will depend heavily on feedback from the growing community.
