Hypothetical Scenario: Exploring the Potential of Ukrainian Athlete Mykhailo Moudrik, Formerly of Chelsea, Competing in the Athletics Division of the 2028 Olympics.

Mykhailo Mudryk, the 24-year-old striker who recently joined Chelsea for a €100 million transfer, has announced his intention to qualify for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles as a sprinter in athletics. This radical change in sport for Mudryk comes amidst a suspension for doping.

Mudryk, an Ukrainian international with 31 caps, has been provisionally suspended since December 2024 due to a positive test for meldonium. He faces a potential four-year suspension, which could put his playing career on hold. However, in theory, this suspension would not prevent him from pursuing a career in athletics.

The four-year suspension is still pending from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), and a decision regarding Mudryk's case is still pending as well. Mudryk's case is still ongoing, and he would need to meet the necessary criteria and be allowed to do so by the relevant authorities to pursue a career in athletics.

Mudryk's football achievements do not affect his qualification for the Olympic team in athletics. Regardless of his football successes, he will have to meet the qualifying standards to join the Ukrainian Olympic team. Mudryk has started training for athletics, guided by former Ukrainian Olympic athletes, to prepare for this challenge.

Spanish publication Marca reports Mudryk's intention to participate in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Despite being dropped from the Chelsea squad, Mudryk's contract with the club extends until 2031, leaving room for speculation about a potential comeback to football if his athletics career is successful.

Before joining Chelsea, Mudryk played for Shakhtar Donetsk, where he made a name for himself as a promising young talent. His recorded speed in the Premier League is 36.67 km/h, a testament to his athletic abilities.

As Mudryk embarks on this new journey, he will face numerous challenges. However, his determination and talent are evident, and only time will tell if he will make it to the epic 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles as a sprinter.
