Huskies kick off the DEL2 campaign
The second-division ice hockey team Kassel begins their new season on Friday, with the home game against Bad Nauheim in a derby scheduled for 5 PM. This marks the start of an exciting journey for the Huskies, led by head coach Bode Wilde in the 2023 season.
In the lead-up to the season, the Huskies have been busy strengthening their roster. Simon Schütz and Bode Wilde, both new additions, are expected to make a significant impact in the defensive line. Their offensive prowess and skating strength have been demonstrated during tests, and they will be joined by Bodnarchuk as a defensive pillar.
Upfront, the combination of Hunter Garlent, Tyler Benson, Mitch Hoelscher, and Turgeon is hoped to help Kassel reach the DEL this year. Turgeon, in particular, is seen as a leader and an excellent faceoff specialist for the team.
The Huskies' sports director, Daniel Kreutzer, expects a challenging game against Bad Nauheim, despite their new coach and players. He believes that Bad Nauheim's good preseason results may not accurately represent their current form.
In the goalkeeping department, Philipp Maurer takes over as the new starting goalie, replacing the injured Brandon Maxwell. Oleg Shilin will serve as the backup goalie for the team.
The first game of the season is an away game against promoted team Bietigheim, with the new season kicking off on Friday at 7:30 PM. The Huskies are satisfied with their performance during the preseason and are ready to face the challenges that the new season brings.
So, get ready, Kassel! The Huskies are back, and it's going to be an exciting ride!
